Police Seek Public’s Help in Solving Armed Robberies in Dutch Quarter

PHILIPSBURG-The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is actively investigating a string of armed robberies, with the most recent occurring at the McDonald’s restaurant in Dutch Quarter on Sunday, September 22, 2024. The incident took place just after 11:00 PM, when three masked individuals, one armed with a firearm, confronted employees as they were leaving the building.

During the robbery, one of the suspects fired a shot, damaging the front door of the establishment and enabling the group to force their way inside. Once inside, the suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene in the direction of the French side of the island.

In response to the recent spike in robberies, KPSM has increased patrols and is focusing resources on preventing further incidents. The police are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals immediately.

KPSM is also appealing to the public for assistance in solving this case. Anyone who may have information regarding the robbery or who noticed suspicious behavior in the Dutch Quarter area is encouraged to contact the police. Reports can be made by calling the Sint Maarten Police Force at +1 721-542-2222 ext. 204 or 205, or anonymously through the tip line at 9300 (free of charge).

The police emphasize that public cooperation is essential in helping bring the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of the community.
