KPSM Increases Enforcement in Philipsburg Ahead of Tourist Season

PHILIPSBURG-In preparation for the upcoming tourist season, the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), alongside Community Police Officers (CPO) of Philipsburg and the special Action Team, has ramped up enforcement efforts in Philipsburg throughout September 2024. These measures aim to ensure the safety of residents and visitors while maintaining order during the busy months ahead.

Since the start of September, KPSM officers have conducted traffic and public safety checks in the area, issuing 238 fines by September 22 for infractions such as illegal parking, vehicle technical issues, and failure to wear seatbelts. These actions are part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic law compliance and public safety.

Additionally, in response to concerns about pedestrian safety, the CPO has restricted vehicle access to the boardwalk by closing off the main square in front of the Courthouse with chains to prevent unauthorized parking. The officer is also coordinating with local businesses to ensure deliveries are made without compromising public safety on the boardwalk.

KPSM urges the public to cooperate with these measures, which will continue throughout the tourist season to maintain a secure environment for all.
