GEORGETOWN-Police in Guyana have seized and destroyed approximately $41 million worth of marijuana.
The major operation conducted on Monday between 10am and 7:10pm at Friendship led to the dismantling of three marijuana camps, a drying area, and multiple cannabis farms.
Authorities uncovered three separate marijuana cultivation sites during the operation. The first camp contained a one-acre farm with about 200 cannabis plants, each approximately three feet tall. The second camp featured a two-acre farm with roughly 400 plants ranging from six to eight inches in height while the third site included a drying area with around 100 pounds of processed cannabis and another two-acre farm with 400 plants, varying from one to six inches tall.
The police also discovered nine live 12-gauge cartridges at the third location.
The operation concluded with the destruction of all cannabis plants and camps.
