Shortening of school hours due to extreme heat continues in Curacao

WILLEMSTAD-School hours in Curacao are being adjusted for the next two weeks. The extreme heat will continue in the coming weeks, so the students will be allowed to go home earlier. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (OWCS) Sithree ‘Cey’ van Heydoorn (MFK) in a press release.

From Monday, all schools for primary and special education will close at 12:00, and secondary education will have a shortened schedule.

The measure will be in place for two weeks. This decision was taken in consultation with the Meteorological Service and the government-subsidized school boards.

Parents and other stakeholders are requested to show understanding for this health measure. Further updates will follow no later than Friday, according to the ministry.
