Parliament’s Credentials Committee comprising MPs Silveria Jacobs, Omar Ottley, and Richinel Brug engage in the vetting process
PHILIPSBURG-On Monday, September 16, Parliament approved the credentials of the 15 Members of Parliament (MPs) elected during the August 19 snap elections. These MPs will be officially sworn in by the Governor on September 20, after which they will take their seats in Parliament.
A committee, including MPs Silveria Jacobs, Omar Ottley and Richinel Brug, reviewed the credentials of each incoming MP and confirmed all documents were in order. This process involved verifying legal requirements, such as confirming no conflicts with public functions and compliance with party finance regulations. After Parliament’s approval, Chairperson Sarah Wescot-Williams informed the Governor and relevant authorities of the new MPs’ acceptance.
They are:
Mr. Egbert J. Doran (NA)
Ms. Melissa D. Gumbs (PFP)
