PHILIPSBURG-Prime Minister, Dr. Luc Mercelina has signed the contract for the repairs & improvements of the Jocelyn Arndell Festival Village with the Contractor Limitless Infrastructure N.V for the sum amount of Naf 1.413 million, based on a public tender that was carried out. The signing ceremony took place on Friday September 6.
The works consist mainly of repairs and improvements of the venue which was damaged after the passing of hurricane Irma and hurricane Maria in 2017.
Works include:
• Roof demolition and replacement of the bleacher building,
• Repair works of the roof at the stage,
• Demolition and rebuilding of 15 catering booths
• Tiling of the floor in the new and existing catering booths
• Painting of various structures in collaboration with SOG
• Beautification and landscaping of the entire venue and other related architectural works
The project will be executed in phases. The initial phase of the works will commence with the demolition and repairs of the 15 catering booths. The Works is projected to commence in the first week of October 2024 with mobilization. The duration of the project is approximately 4 calendar months and will be completed in time for St. Maarten’s annual Carnival festivities in April 2025.
All venders in the Jocelyn Arndell Festival village and stakeholders are being urged to co-operate during these times of execution. The Project’s management will be carried out by the Ministry of General Affairs and the Ministry of VROMI, Department of New Projects.
